Fibre is now handed over - we'll be switching later today

Openreach have finally finished the fibre link
Our dedicated fibre link between Treeton and the Data Centre at Holbrook has today been handed over to us. We're currently testing it and plan to switch customer traffic across to use this instead of the wireless backhaul either tonight or tomorrow morning.

What will fibre mean for customers?
The main benefit of the fibre link is that both latency and stability between Treeton and Holbrook will improve significantly. We expect to shave a good chunk off the ping results you see over the current wireless link. The annoying brief outages we see occuring on status.blissinter.net should also be a thing of the past. It is very unlikely that the fibre will bring any improvements in speed to customers, but our new dedicated PTP links for repeaters should (one of these is done, and we're just waiting for good weather to install the remaining ones safely as it involves climbing our mast).

During the changeover from the wireless backhaul to the new fibre link, there will be a short amount of downtime. We dont expect this to be long at all and we'll announce the change once it's complete.
