National Lottery website

The National Lottery website is intermittent
We've had a few reports from customers saying that national-lottery.co.uk is failing to load for them via the Bliss Internet network, yet works from some other connections. We can assure you that the Bliss network is not at fault here, the problem is present across many different ISPs and is likely due to increased demand on the website due to the jackpot rollover.

We have run several checks from both inside the Bliss network and from other ISP connections that we have access to. Sometimes the website loads, other times it doesn't. But there are problems across all of the ISPs we've tested and so we're confident that there is no fault with our network.

Some technical info
First off, it's important to realise that the website at national-lottery.co.uk will be load-balanced with several IP addresses across various servers and maybe in various different data centres too. Also that routes to those IP addresses will traverse the internet in the most efficient manner depending on your location.

When we trace the route from within Bliss to national-lottery.co.uk the connection fails when it reaches a London hop in the Colt network like this:
>tracert national-lottery.co.uk

Tracing route to national-lottery.co.uk [194.246.78.128]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

When we run the same trace over a connection from EntaNet, the connection fails at the same location like this:

Clearly the issue experienced by Bliss customers is identical to that experienced by customers of other ISPs, including EntaNet. This means that the problem is totally outside of our control and is an issue either with the national-lottery.co.uk website itself or with one of the nodes on the route to the website.

There are also many reports of the problems posted to the National Lottery via social media by people across the country. So whilst we appreciate it is inconvenient, we're sorry to say that there is absolutely nothing we can do resolve the problem.
